The General Organization for Social Insurance is one of the institutions with legal personality and financial and administrative independence that provides social protection and an insurance umbrella in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and covers civil and military state employees, workers in the private sector and workers on wages in the government sector. It is based on the implementation of the social insurance system, its branches and its implementing regulations.
The civil and military retirement systems in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are in accordance with the regulations and organizational arrangements issued in this regard. It is mandatory for all Saudi military and civilian employees assigned to positions in the state budgets and the budgets of public bodies, and to all Saudi workers working in establishments in the private sector in the Kingdom, and optionally applies to self-employed workers. The Foundation also serves the beneficiaries of the benefits exchange systems and the insurance protection extension system for citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
